I am so excited to bring this project to the dental community. One thing I know is that creating a business philosophy is the most important thing we can do for our practices and our lives. Most dentists never think about creating a philosophy of practice. I have spent the last 25 years of my 35 years in dentistry honing a philosophy. Don’t even ask me about my first ten years. In my first book and in this, The TAO of Dentistry, I will tell all. I will expose the reader to every mistake and triumph I have made.
One thing dentistry has taught me through the years is humility. I started off 35 years ago as an arrogant, brash, know-it-all. Today I consider myself the “dumbest guy in the room.” That’s why I am giving this book away – because I want you to help me to refine my philosophy even more. Use it to think. Create thoughts and ideas and then share them with your colleagues. Use this as a discussion board. Maybe we can create webinars in the future if the discussions take us there.
Stay with this blog. Over the years I have made a lot of friends in dentistry. I know some very wise people who I will ask to contribute in the form of guest posts and comments. Invite your friends– you know how to subscribe. Let’s get this party started.
The blog will work like this. Each week I will post a piece of the book. Generally, I will keep the post to approximately 1000 words. Those posts will be categorized as TAO-THE BOOK. I will then add posts during the week discussing that section based on your comments and insights I have had since writing the original book. Randomly I will add posts that have nothing to do with the book – just articles that I like to write- some on technical dentistry, some on the business or behavioral side of dentistry. Those articles will be categorized using the term ARTICLES.
Look for each Book post on Monday — have fun — hope to see you on the blog.
